Web geo-portal for near-real-time monitoring and modelling system for Lakes Maggiore and Lugano.

The Strada 2.0 web portal collects hydro-meteorological data from a network of gauging stations distributed across the whole Maggiore-Lugano lakes system, from alpine reservoirs down to Piedmont and Lumbardy irrigations districts up to the confluence of Ticino and Po rivers. These data are used to compute an extended set of impact indicators related to several sectors accounting for the different interests present in the area: Environment, Flood protection, Irrigation, Navigation, Tourism, Energy production and Fish fauna.

A dynamic map and a set of visual analytics tools allow users to assess the water availability in the system and compare present and past situations.

This portal is a follow-up of the previous STRADA-Verbace Project, an Interreg-funded initiative, aimed to study different options for Lake Maggiore and Lake Lugano management, run by Canton Ticino (CH) and Regione Lombardia (I).
