IRIDE

IRIDE is an ambitious spatial programme, aimed to build a operational Earth Observation system, from satellite to services, to fulfil Institutional services’ needs expressed by Italian public Users, focusing on observations over Italy. 
In the context of the IRIDE Service Segment, SoftWater is developing two Service Value Chains under the Water Management thematic area:

• a systematic monitoring service that automatically provides river planform and geomorphic unit classifications from remote sensing at catchment/national scale, by applying machine-learning based classifier on Sentinel2 and IRIDE input data;
• computation of national-scale multi-temporal water availability  indexes. 

These services support the implementation of the Water Framework Directive, enhancing understanding of river processes and promoting sustainable water management under changing climate conditions.
